We encourage all lawyers to make their contribution for the LAC via the centralized Access to Justice Fund. The LAC participates in the Access to Justice Campaign, partnership of the State Bar of Michigan, and the Michigan State Bar Foundation. Centralized fundraising promotes broader support for legal services to the poor by the community-at-large (potential funding sources always first inquire as to what lawyers do to support legal services). It also allows the support from attorneys and firms to be quantified, hopefully encouraging more firms and attorneys to add their support. The Michigan State Bar Foundation administers the ATJ Fund and distributes 100% of the gifts designated for the LAC's operations directly to the LAC.

• Many of the area's firms make a blanket contribution on behalf of all of their members.


• This is also a good way for judges to lend their support.


• The money donated by firms and individuals accounts for 25% of the LAC's annual budget.


• Because both the LAC and the MSBF are 501(c)(3) organizations, your financial contributions are eligible for the Michigan income tax credit.
